Simulated Driver Training
General Information
Do you or someone you know want to learn more about driving? Maybe you have some anxiety about sharing the road with other drivers? Come learn real world driving skills in our passenger vehicle and/or truck driving simulators!
There's no risk of physical injury or property damage, and you will gain valuable experience in high-risk driving situations so you will know how to react in a real car should those situations arise.
Passenger Vehicle Driver Training
Our Virage VS500M passenger vehicle simulator consists of a driver's seat and realistic vehicle controls. We start with the basics of learning where the controls are, and how to use them, and can train all the way up to realistic driving scenarios with nighttime driving, snowy/icy conditions, and hazardous situations.
Each one hour session costs $100 CAD. We have training scenarios that require 2 hours to complete, as well as additional challenging scenarios that mimic real life situations.
Truck Driver Training
If you're interested in additional training to become a Class 1 truck driver, our Virage VS600M truck driving simulator can help you learn the skills you'll need for a variety of situations! From basic functions of the truck, to driving to a store in the dark in winter with a tight deadline, the simulator is great for drivers of all skill levels.
Each one hour session costs $100 CAD.

User Feedback
Research participants who took part in our study on using driving simulators for training purposes had high praise for the system. When asked what they liked about the simulator training, people said:
"Everything."
"Good idea of driving in different conditions, like snow. It teaches you how to deal with hazards, and feels like an actual car."
"I learned some things about what not to do on the road. It's better to crash in the simulator than in real life."
"I liked how real it is. It's good to be able to practice without consequences [e.g., injury, crashes]."
"I was able to experience things that could happen in real life without being in danger. I liked practicing in a variety of weather conditions."
"It was fun and a good learning experience."
When asked if this simulator training should be included in driver training, there was almost unanimous agreement that it would be helpful:
"If a kid sucks at driving, you don't want them on the road. You want them here."
"Drivers would feel safer if they experienced what I did."
"You might not see these situations on the road [during driving lessons]. It's better to see it in simulation."
"It was helpful because some of it I didn't actually know until I was told here. Much better than reading a handbook."
"It's good because driving is hard, new drivers are cocky, and this offers real experience."
