One in three older adults in the community and one in two in long term care fall at least once annually, with falls responsible for over 95% of hip fractures and 60% of brain injuries. Saskatchewan health care is experiencing the shifting demographics of an aging population, and this will have an impact on delivery choices and policy development in the coming years. Identifying older adults at risk of falls is an important first step in addressing and preventing serious fall-related injuries impacting Saskatchewan residents and their families.
